That’s the car I’ve used for the UK trip. After the tour, when Bruce told his stories about the UK tour, he mostly referred to my car as a "BUS"... wonder where
he got the idea that I was driving a BUS.... ;)
At the second day, I asked Bruce to sign a picture that I could use to decorate my Car. I have put those pics into the back window of the car and I liked the
looks of surprised car drivers, after I overtook them!
Driving in England was a real challenge because I had to drive on the “wrong” side. I really can say.. very interesting experience and lots of fun! One
problem was the speedlimits which are in miles/hours in England. In Germany we only use Kilometers/hour so my speedometer only showed my the speed in km/h. That’s why I needed to put a little table with the difference between
km and miles onto my steeringwheel. The only problems was driving at night and not being able to see the table... but I didn’t get a speed ticket so I guess it all worked pretty well.
Another problem about driving in UK was the speed limit on the Motorways. I’m used to drive fast since we mostly don’t have speed limits on german’s
“Autobahnen”. So my “normal slow” Travel speed in Germany is about 100 miles/h (160km/h). And the speed limit in UK was 70 miles/h (112 km/h). That was pretty tough, I can tell you!
A very nice experience (beside driving over 3000 miles) was the ferry between Dover and Calais. The first trip from Calais to Dover at night (3 am) was LOTS of
fun because there was lots of wind and heavy sea. It was nearly impossible to walk around in the ship without loosing the balance. And all people who tried to walk.. it looked like they were all drunk. ;)
On the trip back to Calais after the tour, it was 4pm and wonderful weather. So I was able to take a few pics.
