We started the trip in direction Cambridge at 3:30am. Just 740km / 465 miles to go! Kirsty slept through this whole drive. Around 8am I
noticed a fatal error I haven’t thought of while I was planning this trip...on the route from Glasgow to Cambridge we passed Birmingham and we got RIGHT into the Rush Hour again. When I noticed my mistake, it was too late
because we were already in the traffic jam on the motorway. So I took the next junction and drove the fastest way out of Birmingham and then across the country to get to Cambridge. This mistake costed us about an hour! But even
with this little mistake we arrived at 10:30am in cambridge and we even found a nice parking lot near the Forbidden Planet. Thank you, Janet for the hint about the Shopping Mall! ;-)
We walked a little bit around in the Forbidden Planet and in Cambridge "City". Back at the Forbidden planet we met Janet, Katrina and Anne! Bruce and Brian arrived around noon at the Forbidden Planet so the
Signing started at the announced time. I asked Brian how Ireland was. He said it was a great success. They sold every book in Belfast.
Janet was the first on Bruce's Table. She gave him a collage of pictures from earlier signings. Then she gave him a card she has made by herself: A Tourplan from his Signing Tour. I had the feeling that Bruce really loved the card! ;-) So he put the card on the table so everyone was able to see the "Tour Plan"!
When Kirsty was standing at the table Bruce asked where we're coming from. Kirsty told him that we're just coming from Glasgow this morning . He looked a little bit confused and I told him that "we left Glasgow this
morning at 3am and that we needed about 7 hours to drive the 400 miles." And I had a big smile on my face while I was saying that! He looked up at me and I told him that "it was fun to drive that distance in the
morning". I guess in this moment he thought something like "THIS WOMAN IS CRAZY". (as if he hadn't thought that before) At least that was his look. ;)
When it was my turn I asked him if he had tried to
drive here in England but he denied and I told him that he really should try it.... it's fun to drive on the wrong side! Bruce was just signing the book when a guy from the shop walked behind Bruce and his cell phone started
to ring. I said: I’m important, please give me a cell phone (a sentence we often say in germany when someone's cell phone rings in a bad moment) But I had the feeling Bruce hadn't heard that before, so he said: "Oh
Anke, You’re very important!" And I said: Yeah that’s why I HAVE a cell phone. And I was very glad that I had my cell phone with me on the england trip because that way i was able to call my parents incase I ran out of money or something like that. But I really don't want to see my next cell phone bill because of all the roaming fees you have to pay when you're calling from a different country. I asked him how many books I have to pay to get one for free.. but
he told me that he has nothing to do with that.. Forbidden Planet owns the books and Bruce owns only one himself. Later at the checkout: The books were signed with 16.99 Pounds... but the cashier just wanted
to have 13 Pounds. So at least I saved a little money for one book! ;-)
Outside the Forbidden Planet we chatted a little bit with Katrina, Anne and Janet!
Then we said Good Bye and went back to the car to drive the 120km /75 miles to Norwich!
